This is what I have so far….
Please let me know if you have worked with or for any of these people so I can add you to the tree. I hope that one day the tree is huge!
When I have filled in as much as I can I am hoping to re-do the tree with circular hubs for very popular people e.g Stoddart. Watch this space!
If you have any questions or additions/subtractions then email me at theorganicsolutionblog at gmail dot com or tweet me @jessthechemist. If you are on there but I haven’t managed to connect you to more than one person due to “artistic” constraints then let me know anyway and I might be able to fit you on my re-do.
Here is another example using NodeXL. It is prettier but some twitter handles/names are a little hidden.
If you feel like making your own academic family tree then do share the link here or on twitter using the hashtag #chemistrytwittertree. I can’t wait to see what you all come up with.
You should have a look at the Academic Tree website:
http://academictree.org/chemistry/tree.php?pid=68418
It needs a lot of additions still, but you can trace yourself to Noble laureates, is pretty cool.
I also worked with @organometallica!
How could I forget that! My bad.
Two errors I can see:
1) @SuperScienceGrl was Christina White’s supervisor? LOL Just an arrow pointing the wrong way, but kind of funny! 🙂
2) Fout didn’t work for Ritter; while Alison was a postdoc at Harvard, she worked for Ted Betley. He however can be traced back to Bergman, I believe (I’m fairly certain Alison has Bergman in one of her trees).
I knew there were some but NMR interpretation was calling…
Thanks!
I can’t seem to link Fout to Bergman.. I will keep looking!
Was I? Cool! I wish you’d left it like that. 😛 🙂
Melanie Sandford?
She is sanford. This is Sandford from Durham.
Good job Jess. Maybe the arrow should point from the ‘boss’ to the student/postdoc? Then you can follow the supervisory history.
Good thinking! I shall do that and research all their backgrounds. I know Sandford worked for Olah 😉
I have given it a jazz up.. I hope it is all correct!
That is great Jess. You could squeeze Paul Wender in as well. Frank Glorius and Melanie San(d)ford 😉 were there at the same time!
It is Sanford right? Not the same as my Sandford 🙂 confusing!
Steve Fletcher and I were postdocs at the same time in Ben Feringa’s group in Groningen.
Wow, this is going to get complicated!
Seeing as you’ve got Clayden on there now, maybe I’ll squish in?
